Andrew began his journey by focusing on bowls, driven by a passion for showcasing the natural beauty of wood grain in every piece. He crafted each bowl with a commitment to stability, sustainability, and longevity. Over time, his collection expanded to include cutting boards and other home décor items, evolving into the innovative wooden designs admired today.

SMEG began as a metal enameling and smelting business, with its name derived from the Italian words "Smalterie Metallurgiche Emiliane Guastalla", which translates to "Emilian Metal Enamelling Works of Guastalla."
